An exploration of the biomechanics and functional patterns of the lower spine and pelvis. Participants will practice a combination of asanas and Qigong movements aimed at reducing pain, enhancing stability, and improving range of motion.

Analysis of the root causes of sleep disturbances from Ayurvedic, Yoga, and Qigong viewpoints. Introduction to breathing techniques, body awareness, and evening practices designed to improve sleep quality and soothe the nervous system.

Like Tai Chi Chuan, it is often practiced for health benefits such as improving balance, body alignment, and relaxation, while also cultivating internal energy. The sword acts as an extension of the body, challenging the practitioner to coordinate the whole body while strengthening the limbs.
In this workshop, participants will learn and practice:
- Basic sword principles individually and with a partner
- The 54-move sequence (beginners start with a few initial moves)
- Techniques and applications
Prerequisite: Experience with empty-hand Tai Chi Chuan is required. Prior weapons experience is helpful but not necessary.
Sword: A wooden sword is required for partner practice. A metal sword may be used for solo training. If you don’t have one, wooden swords are available for purchase at the school.

The Three Treasures: Essence, Qi, and Spirit (Jing, Qi, Shen) and the Process of Divine Refinement
Qigong, as a discipline that studies the energies inherent in nature, focuses on the fundamental principles of human health and longevity. Its core framework is grounded in the Three Vital Elements—known as the “Three Treasures” (San Bao): Essence (Jing), Qi, and Spirit (Shen). Spiritual Breathing or Fifth Gate Breathing
Spiritual breathing is also called Fifth Gate Breathing (Di Wu Xin Hu Xi, 第五心呼吸), baihui breathing (baihui hu xi, 百會呼吸), or upper dan tian breathing (shang dan tian hu xi, 上丹田呼吸). It means to breathe through the third eye and is crucial in opening the third eye for enlightenment.

At Studio Emkan, practice was never just about movement—it taught me to live more consciously in my body. For years, Tai Chi had been a mental concept to me, but here, I experienced it in action: focus, presence, and inner balance.
