Biography
Aroutik Artounian, with over two decades of experience in martial arts and expertise in traditional Yang-style Taijiquan, is one of the most dedicated, structured, and influential instructors of this discipline in Iran. He began his athletic journey at the age of 11 in Isfahan and, from a young age, gained practical experience in disciplines such as boxing, Thai boxing, full-contact, and Hapkido. This diverse background laid a multidimensional foundation for his deep understanding of body mechanics, martial discipline, and mental cultivation.
As his practice matured, Artounian was introduced to Taijiquan through Arash Rezaei—a turning point that defined his professional and technical path. Since then, he has pursued the art with continuous, goal-driven commitment and is now regarded as a leading instructor in the field.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Sports Sciences. His teaching philosophy integrates scientific principles with the traditional foundations of Taijiquan, emphasizing technical precision, structural consistency, and the simultaneous cultivation of body and mind.
Artounian has over eight years of experience teaching Taijiquan across various age groups and has developed a child-focused training method that is nurturing, tangible, and yet faithful to traditional structure.
He is a certified instructor by the Iran Wushu Federation, holds a 4th Dan in Taijiquan, and is an official referee recognized by the federation. As an active member of the YMAA Iran instructional team, he plays a consistent and meaningful role in leading classes, designing training programs, and mentoring students.
In addition to his regular teaching, Artounian has participated in multiple national and international YMAA training camps alongside senior masters, and has consistently aligned his instructional standards with those of YMAA International.
His continued presence, structured pedagogical approach, and ability to synthesize field experience with academic knowledge have made Artounian a responsible, forward-looking, and impactful figure in the development of traditional Taijiquan in Iran.
